Malandrai member

Northern Indus Suture · Malakand

A member of the Duma Formation in the Malakand area.

Duma formation is named after Duma village (on the right side of Indus gorge) 46km ENE of Rustam by Dipietro et al. (1995). Kazmi and Abbasi (2008) have organized the following 3 members of this formation. Karapa greenschist is named by Dipietro et al. (1999) is the lower member, Duma marble member (Duma formation of Dipietro et al. 1999) is the middle member and Malandrai member (greenschist, named after the Malandrai Kandao locality 12km NE of Rustam) is upper member.

Significance. A mapped member of the Duma Formation in the Malakand/Swat area (DiPietro et al., 1995); its lithology and age are not well established.
