Potwar Basin
Eastern part of Upper Indus Basin with less evaporitic and more molasse-dominated sequences. Does NOT include Bahadurkhel Salt, Jatta Gypsum, Panoba–Chashmai–Gurguri facies, or Kahan Group. Famous for world-class Siwalik mammal fossils including early hominoid primates.
Kohat Basin
Western part of Upper Indus Basin, salt-tectonics dominated. Trans-Indus region with excellent Paleocene-Eocene exposures. Known for gypsum deposits, Bahadurkhel Salt, and petroleum potential. Shows transition from marine to continental conditions with unique Panoba and Kahan facies.
