Microflora & algae · Cambrian – Triassic

Microscopic, tooth-like phosphatic elements — the feeding apparatus of an extinct, eel-shaped early vertebrate. Because they evolved fast and are found worldwide, they are the premier index microfossils from the Cambrian to the end-Triassic.

A broad fossil group rather than a single taxon — the units below record it among their fauna or flora.
