Genus

Glossopteris

Plants · Permian

An extinct seed-fern with distinctive tongue-shaped, net-veined leaves that blanketed the southern supercontinent Gondwana through the Permian. Finding the same Glossopteris flora across South America, Africa, India, Antarctica and Australia was a key piece of evidence for continental drift.
