Brachiopods · Devonian – Permian

Spiny, extinct brachiopods of the late Palaeozoic with one strongly convex valve and a lid-like other. Many anchored to the sea floor by their spines; they swarmed on Carboniferous–Permian shelves and vanished in the end-Permian extinction.
