- Granoblastic, locally mylonitised quartz-mica-garnet schist (feldspathised and tourmalinised), in three main varieties — quartz-feldspar schist, quartz-mica-kyanite schist and quartz-mica-garnet schist — with thin graphitic and hornblende schist.

The Precambrian schist basement of the Swat Nappe (the Manglaur Schist), beneath the Alpurai-Group cover.
Manglour formation is named after the Manglaur village, 6km ENE of Mingora by Kazmi et al. (1984c). It is exposed Afghan border to Swat and Besham areas. It consists of crystalline schists, quartzite and marble (DiPeitro 1990).

Remarks
The Precambrian crystalline schist that constitutes the Swat Nappe; intruded by the Swat Granite Gneiss and overlain unconformably by the Alpurai Group. Its age is uncertain but is tentatively taken as Precambrian on its resemblance to the Tanawal Formation and the correlation of the Swat Granite Gneiss with the Mansehra Granite.
