Echinoids

Echinoderms · Ordovician – Recent

Sea urchins and their relatives — echinoderms encased in a rigid, globular or flattened test of interlocking calcite plates, usually bearing movable spines. They graze or burrow on the sea floor and are common fossils from the Ordovician onward.

A broad fossil group rather than a single taxon — the units below record it among their fauna or flora.
