Tani Formation (possible equivalent)

A tentatively Triassic slate unit of the Kaniguram-Makin area, South Waziristan, introduced by Badshah et al. (2000). Greenish-grey and black, fine-grained, intensely fractured and splintery slates occupy the northeastern areas near the southern ophiolite contact and a narrow strip along the western ophiolite margin; they may be equivalent to the Tani Formation of the Waziristan-Khost-Kurram region.

Band colour = period; texture = dominant rock type. Lines between bands mark the contact type. True scale makes height ∝ recorded thickness; hatched = thickness not recorded. Ages approximate, for ordering.
