Synonyms

A tentatively Palaeozoic schist-and-phyllite unit of the Wana area, South Waziristan, introduced by Badshah et al. (2000). Greenish-grey and dark, medium- to thin-bedded schists and phyllites form an open north-trending anticline flanked by Mesozoic sedimentary rocks; low-greenschist-facies metamorphism is attributed to southward thrusting of the Zhob-Waziristan-Khost ophiolite complex and Kurram Group onto the Indian margin.

Band colour = period; texture = dominant rock type. Lines between bands mark the contact type. True scale makes height ∝ recorded thickness; hatched = thickness not recorded. Ages approximate, for ordering.

Remarks

Its greenschist-facies metamorphism records southward obduction of the Zhob-Waziristan-Khost ophiolite complex and the Kurram Group nappe onto the Indian margin (Badshah et al. 2000).
