The Triassic Musakhel Group of the Salt Range — the Mianwali, Tredian and Kingriali formations — recording marine life's recovery after the end-Permian extinction.
Named by Shah (2009) after the Nammal Gorge near Musakhel, the Musakhel Group comprises the Triassic Mianwali, Tredian and Kingriali formations. It is paraconformable on the Zaluch Group and disconformable below the Surghar Group. The basal Mianwali Formation (Kummel, 1966) spans the Permian–Triassic boundary and has three members (Kathwai, Mittiwali, Narmia), with earliest-Scythian ammonites (Ophiceras) and a rich micro- and palynofauna.

Contacts
Band colour = period; texture = dominant rock type. Lines between bands mark the contact type. True scale makes height ∝ recorded thickness; hatched = thickness not recorded. Ages approximate, for ordering.
This unit (highlighted) within its province column; faded ends continue above and below. Line style marks the contact type.
Constituent units
Formations that make up this group, in stratigraphic order (youngest at top, as in the column).
